Le Cool's eccentric London POV

The Guardian features a top-ten list of eccentric picks from the editors of the weekly Le Cool magazine. Among the stops highlighted are several galleries, a scooter shop/cafe, a jukebox showroom, and a discount tea shop.

Another list from The Guardian features the top ten secret cultural treasures of London. One of the sites is the Hunterian Museum of the The Royal College of Surgeons of England. The oddities include preserved anatomical specimens and Winston Churchill's dentures.

Preparations underway

The countdown till my departure is on! As I ready myself for several month's of time away from my usual life, I'm undertaking all sorts of planning to make this a smooth transition. Financial concerns like credit cards without foreign currency fees, new banking arrangements and international funds transfers are in the forefront. I'm starting to hunt for housing and to make a catalog of resources to refer to once I am overseas. Add to this all the permits and licenses I'll need to practice outside the US, and it's quite a handful!

Here are a few resource links:
Hazelmail, a site which lets you convert any digital photo into a postcard that they will mail anywhere in the world.
American Express Travel Service London offices, for cash and travelers checks, among other necessities.
Tourist sites like Londonist, Moleskine London, Visit London, Blog by Blog London guide, All in London, Qype London, and a collection of discount vouchers will hopefully let me get out of the usual tourist rut as well.
